Kwan Yin Kwan Yin, or Kuan Yin, or Quan Yin, is one of the most universally beloved of all deities in the Buddhist tradition. Also known as Quan'Am (Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali), She is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, She hears the cries of all beings. Quan Yin enjoys a strong resonance with the Christian Mary, The Mother of Jesus, and the Tibetan Goddess Tara. You will see her carrying the "Water of Life"; from a small vase, She can hold a sheaf of rice or a bowl of rice seed as a metaphor for fertility and sustenance. She often carries the beloved Lotus Flower in Meditation. It is believed that Kwan Yin originated in the twelfth or thirteenth century in both China and Japan. Kwan Yin is one of the most common deities used in Feng Shui for the home or office. The Dragon The Dragon, an ancient symbol for high spirituality, wisdom, strength and divine powers of transformation, is a common motif found in combination with the Goddess of Mercy, Kwan Yin. We also use the Dragon as a house and office protector in the ceremonies of Feng Shui. Mala Beads In Hindu tradition 108 is sacred. It is the number that results from multiplying the twelve astrological signs by the nine planets - this was the entire known universe when this formula was developed.
